How to use your dashboard
Everything you can do from your dashboard, one step at a time.
1
Logging in
- Go to usefulbox.com.au and tap Sign in at the top right. On a phone it is the little person icon.
- Use the email address you booked with and your password.
- Forgotten your password? Tap "Forgot password" on the sign in page and we will email you a reset link.
- Booked a class as a guest? You already have an account. Your booking email has a "Set your password" button, or just use Forgot password.
Once you are signed in, the person icon turns into your menu. Dashboard is the first item.
Go to sign in2
Put the site on your phone home screen
It then opens like an app, straight to your dashboard.
- iPhone: open usefulbox.com.au in Safari, tap the Share button (the square with an arrow), scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen", then Add.
- Android: open usefulbox.com.au in Chrome, tap the three dots at the top right, tap "Add to Home screen" (or "Install app"), then Add.
3
Your dashboard at a glance
Everything about you and your classes lives on one page.
- Your details and photo are at the top.
- Upcoming classes are listed next, soonest first, with a button for each one.
- Below that are your waitlists, past classes, tickets to events, anything you have booked for other people, and any gift vouchers or credit.
- Studio credit, when you have some, sits right at the top so you cannot miss it.
4
See what to bring and where to go
- On your dashboard, tap the class name under Upcoming classes.
- The class page shows the date, time, address, your teacher, what is included and what you need to bring.
- If the teacher has left a note for the group, for example "bring 1.5m of fabric", it shows there too.
- You will also get a reminder email a few days before with the same information.
5
Booking a class
- Tap Classes at the top of the site. Use the toggle to see classes with dates to book now, or classes you can register interest in.
- Tap a class, pick a date, and tap Book.
- You can book for yourself or for someone else. Enter their name and email and we will send them the details.
- Pay by card. Have a gift voucher or credit code? Type it in the "Gift voucher or credit code" box before you pay.
6
Waitlists and "notify me"
Two different things, so here is the difference.
- A date is full: tap "Waitlist" on that date. If a seat opens, everyone on the list gets an email and it is first come, first served, so be quick.
- A class has no dates yet, or none that suit: tap "Notify me about new dates" on the class page. We email you as soon as new dates go up.
- Both lists show on your dashboard, where you can take yourself off any time.
7
Moving to another date
- On your dashboard, find the class under Upcoming classes and tap Reschedule.
- Pick any other date of the same class that has a seat, and confirm. It is free.
- Reschedule is only shown while your class is more than 14 days away. Inside 14 days we cannot move bookings.
- Courses with several sessions cannot be rescheduled, but you can still cancel (see below).
8
Cancelling a class
Tap Cancel on the class on your dashboard. What happens next depends on how far away the class is.
- More than 14 days away: your choice of a full refund to your card, or 100% as studio credit to spend on anything at Usefulbox.
- Within 14 days: your seat goes back on sale. If someone else books it, you choose up front whether to get 100% studio credit or a 90% refund. If nobody takes the seat, the booking is used up and no refund is due.
- Either way we email you as soon as we know the outcome.
- Courses count from the first session. Once a course has started, it is treated as within 14 days.
9
Studio credit and gift vouchers
- Studio credit shows at the top of your dashboard with the amount and the date it expires. Credit lasts 12 months and we remind you before it runs out.
- Gift vouchers you have been sent show under My Gift Vouchers. Vouchers you bought for others show under Gift Vouchers Sent.
- To spend either one, book as normal and type the code into the "Gift voucher or credit code" box at checkout. Any balance left stays on the code.
- Credit can pay for a class for a friend, but the code itself cannot be handed on to someone else.
10
Adding a kit or merchandise to a booking
- On your dashboard, tap "Add merch" on the class under Upcoming classes.
- Pick what you want, pay by card or with a voucher or credit code, and it will be waiting for you at the class.
- You can add merch up to 48 hours before the class starts. After that, ask us at the studio.
11
Your patterns
- Patterns you have bought or claimed are under My patterns in your menu. They are yours to download forever.
- Tap Download next to any pattern to get the PDF again.
12
Changing your details, level or photo
- At the top of your dashboard tap Edit next to your details.
- You can change your name, phone number and sewing level. Your email address is your login, so email us if that needs to change.
- Tap "Upload photo" or "Change photo" to add a picture. It helps your teacher put a face to the name.
13
Turning newsletter emails on or off
- On your dashboard, in your details, tick or untick "Keep me in the loop".
- Booking confirmations, reminders and anything about a class you are in will still come through. This switch only controls news and offers.
14
The class calendar
- Tap Calendar at the top of the site to see every class by month.
- Tap any class on the calendar to open it and book.
- Every booking confirmation email includes a calendar file. Open it to add the class to your own phone calendar.
15
Booking for someone else, and events
- Classes you have booked for other people show under "Booked for others". They get their own account and their own emails.
- Tickets to events like Frocktails show under My Tickets, with the QR code for the door.
16
Still stuck?
- Email hello@usefulbox.com.au and tell us your name and the class. We will sort it.
