Entry is inside the front area with the door to the left.  Please ring the bell to be let inside.

Parking can be tricky during the week.

  • No onsite parking on weekdays 8am - 6pm.  The best parking spots are in Weymss or Perry Streets.
  • After 6pm & on weekends, there are two spots available under the tree (marked as Future Associate) only
  • There is no parking in front of the garage door under the awning at any time
  • Please park in the bays properly so as not to take up two spots
  • Bike Parking is in the outdoor area and is at your own risk.

ACCESSIBILITY

Our studio is on level one of the building.  There are two flights of stairs to enter the studio.  We realise this isn't ideal and we are working on more accessible options.  

To counter some of the frustration of the stairs, we do provide Brother or Bernina sewing machines to use while you are here so that you don't have to carry yours up the stairs.  You are of course welcome to bring your own but you will be responsible to bring it up the stairs yourself.

We only open for workshops as we are not a retail store...yet!

UsefulBox is a place for everyone to feel welcome, encouraged and loved.  You are all very very welcome as sewing is a gift that can unite us all. We are anti-racist and an ally to the BIPOC, LGBTQI and physically disabled communities, along with being an advocate for mental health. We will serve you to be best of our ability and we will stand with you in love and solidarity.  We welcome positivity and kindness.  If your values differ from others in the class and you will have trouble in conducting yourself in a polite, kind and respectful manner, our studio is not the studio for you. 

 TERMS AND CONDITIONS 

  • Classes need 4-5 people to go ahead.  We will confirm 5 days prior if cancelled due to low numbers, you will be refunded or transferred to another dates
  • If you cancel before 14 days, you will be refunded in full
  • If we cancel the class within 5 days, you will be transferred free of charge, refunded or given a credit
  • You will forfeit the whole class fee should you not come to class or cancel within the 14 day period.
  • Rescheduling the class will incur a $25 admin fee.  
  • There are absolutely NO make up classes available.

     Refunds and exchanges of products

    If you have purchased a faulty product we can offer a refund or exchange. For change of minds, the product must be unused and we can provide an exchange or store credit. 

    Further, anyone partaking in any classes or coming to any events at Usefulbox Sewing School or organised by Usefulbox Sewing School must agree to these terms and conditions.

    Liability Waiver

    You agree to take on full responsibility for any damages, injuries and for physical and/or personal property, which you might incur whilst participating in classes and/or events organised by Usefulbox Sewing School

    Photos and Video

    You agree to give Usefulbox Sewing School unrestricted publishing rights for any photographs or videos taken at Usefulbox Sewing School classes and events or on Usefulbox Sewing School premises. (For use of Usefulbox Sewing School marketing materials).

     FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    What to bring to class?

    If you have a machine, please bring that so you can better learn to use it. Don’t forget the power cord, pedal and all the accessories, and to give the machine a nice clean and dusting. If your class goes over lunch time, you are encouraged to bring your lunch to save time. There is a fridge, full cream cows milk and microwave available. All other info on what to bring will be given to you upon booking.  

    Do you have machines to use?

    Yes, we do! You can choose from Brother A80 or Bernina 335 machines. 

    Do you do kids classes?

    Yes!  We have super fun afterschool classes available. 

    Do you have Gift Vouchers?

    Gift vouchers are sent to you digitally and have a code attached to them which the recipient will need to use when booking. Vouchers are valid for three years.

    What's the shipping policy?

    Your goodies are packed as soon as possible upon your order being placed.  A day at the most! You will be given a tracking number upon shipment of the goods. Across Australia, your parcel should take 2-3 days for delivery.  

    Are animals allowed in the studio?

    Animals will need to be left at home when you come to your sewing lesson. The space is not safe for animals - I would hate for your pet to tread on a pin or choke on some thread!
