Slow Stitching with Soul: Kawandi Quilting from Upcycled Textiles

Regular price $130.00 Sale

Discover Kawandi quilting - a slow, meditative hand-stitching tradition from the Siddi community that transforms leftover fabric into beautiful, useful textiles.

In this relaxed, beginner friendly workshop, you’ll learn how to piece and quilt small scraps of natural fibre fabric onto a backing cloth, working from the outside in.

Led by Lorena Uriarte, one of Australia’s celebrated modern quilters, this workshop draws on her years of experience teaching Kawandi in Australia and overseas. Lorena shares her passion for sustainable making, thoughtful design and the joy of stitching by hand.

We’ll provide a kit of reclaimed fabrics and thread, but you’re welcome to bring your own favourite worn out garment or scraps to personalise your piece.

No sewing experience needed, just come ready to slow down, stitch thoughtfully and connect with others while giving new life to old cloth.
